Yvette Reid - Celebrant (Auckland)

Deciding I'm the right celebrant for you

Everyone is different and luckily there are options out there to suit us all! So as you search for a celebrant to conduct your wedding, it's good to figure out what vibe you are wanting to bring to your day. There are celebrants who feel like wise Great-Aunts or your favourite Primary School Principals, there are spiritual celebrants, bilingual celebrants, DJs & Comedians moonlighting as celebrants, celebrity celebrants, heavy metal celebrants and more!

So what kind am I?

I'm the celebrant who hopes to feel like a friend... a friend who just happens to also be a kick-ass wedding celebrant.

If that sounds like what you might be after, then you're in the right place.

So here's the tea about me

If I were planning my wedding now, I’d be asking one of my celebrant friends to conduct my ceremony to give it that warm, personal touch.  But if you don’t have that option, you may choose a celebrant who feels like a friend. I hope I can be that for you!

I have been a professional celebrant since 2010 and have conducted 700+ weddings in this time. I am younger than some but with years of experience, am well-presented, a great listener, and always positive.

If you think about it, getting married is an odd experience. You're all dressed up, looking better than ever, all of the most important people in your life are there and they are all watching and listening intently as you express things to each other that you usually only say in private. I've attended weddings as a guest where the whole ceremony felt far too... ceremonial! As if they were taking part in something "other", that didn't feel personal at all, like pawns in a ritual their names were simply pasted into.

My objective is to take away the "other" feeling; to create a celebration that is relaxed and represents your energy and your unique relationship. To create an experience that feels comfortable, joyful and completely you, so you can feel present, have a great time and just enjoy the ride!

I'm happy to meet with you and your partner, to listen to your story, show you previous ceremonies I have written, to discuss your individual requirements and to see how the three of us click.

My style is a modern, relaxed ceremony with a few laughs if appropriate. Light without losing the significance of the day. I am secular, so the ceremony scripts I write do not have religious content but you are welcome to include any personal beliefs within your own vows or guest readings.

Once booked, I will then work with you to create a wedding ceremony that reflects your relationship and focuses on the tone/sentiment that is important to you.

When your guests offer compliments after the ceremony and ask me how many years I have known you - that’s how I know I’ve truly succeeded. That's my favourite part.

Ceremony options

The most popular service I offer are personalised ceremonies written from the notes I take during a casual meeting/conversation with you both. I can also adjust the style of address to suit elopements or super intimate weddings.

If you're after something simple, heartfelt and cheerful, but on a lower budget, I can also offer a pre-written template ceremony with the option for us to personalise it together. The template option offers the ease and simplicity of a registry wedding but with language that is warmer and much more romantic - because even if you "just want it done", you may as well do it with love, not just legals.
